NT Parks Visitor Pass

If you’re a visitor to the NT, you need a NT Parks Visitor Pass to visit most national parks and reserves, including Karlu Karlu / Devils Marbles Conservation Reserve.

The visitor pass allows you to visit all parks and reserves managed by the NT Government within your valid dates.

You must connect to the Wi-Fi, then access the NT parks booking system to get a visitor pass.

NT residents don’t need a visitor pass but may be asked to show proof of residency, such as a valid NT driver licence.

Camping

A simple, unpowered bush camping area with fireplaces and pit toilets is located at the southern end of the Reserve. No water or firewood is provided and you should therefore bring your own supplies.

You must book online and pay a fee to camp. Please connect to the Wi-Fi, then access the NT parks booking system to make a booking.

Camp only in designated camping areas. Pets are not permitted in the campground.

Safety information

You can have a safe and comfortable trip to Karlu Karlu by doing the following:

  • observe park safety signs
  • carry and drink plenty of water
  • wear a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, suitable clothing and footwear
  • avoid strenuous activity during the heat of the day
  • think about your health and fitness when choosing a walk.
Please remember

When visiting the reserve, remember the following:

  • visitors to the NT require a NT Parks Visitor Pass
  • stay on designated roads and tracks
  • historic, cultural items and wildlife are protected
  • fires are only permitted in designated fire pits
  • pets are permitted in the day-use carpark only and must be on a lead
  • pets are not permitted in the campground
  • generators are not permitted
  • drones are not permitted.

Acceptance

All users must read, agree with and accept all of the terms and conditions contained in these Terms before Using the Tourism and Events NT Wi-Fi service ("the Service").

Terms

In these Terms:

  1. Acceptance
    By accessing or using the Tourism and Events NT Wi-Fi service (Service), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions of Use (Terms). If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

    • Service means the wireless internet network provided by Tourism and Events NT (TENT) and its authorised agents.
    • We, Us or Our means TENT, any relevant Northern Territory Government agency involved in providing the Service (including the Parks and Wildlife Commission of the NT and Darwin Waterfront Corporation, where applicable) and Encapto Pty Ltd .
    • You or Your means any person accessing or using the Service.
  4. Access to the Service
    • The Service is provided on a complimentary basis (or as part of a bundled service) for visitor convenience.
    • Access may be subject to time and data limits.
    • The Service is provided on an “as available” basis. Coverage, speed and availability may vary due to environmental conditions, terrain, congestion, maintenance, power availability or other factors, particularly in remote locations.
    • We may suspend, restrict or terminate access at any time without notice.
    • We may take any actions reasonably necessary to protect the integrity, security or performance of the Service including suspending or terminating access without notice.
  5. Nature of the Service
    • The Service is a public Wi-Fi network and may not be secure.
    • We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure or free from harmful code
    • You are responsible for ensuring your device is compatible and adequately protected.
  6. Your Responsibilities

    You are responsible for?:

    • the security of your device and data;
    • using appropriate security measures (including up-to-date software, firewalls and encryption where appropriate); and
    • all activity conducted using your device while connected to the Service.

    You acknowledge that transmissions over the Service may be intercepted or accessed by third parties.

  7. Acceptable Use

    You must not use the Service to:

    • breach of any law or infringe the rights of any person;
    • access or attempt to access systems or data without authorisation;
    • distribute malware, viruses or other harmful code;
    • engage in cybercrime (including phishing, credential harvesting or denial-of-service activity);
    • transmit unlawful, harmful, abusive, defamatory or offensive material;
    • send unsolicited bulk communications (including spam);
    • use excessive bandwidth in a way that disrupts the Service;
    • resell or commercially exploit the Service; or
    • interfere with or damage the Service or associated infrastructure.
  8. Use/Network Management

    To ensure equitable access for all users, we may monitor usage and apply reasonable network management measures including limiting bandwidth, restricting high volume data usage or prioritising certain types of traffic.

    You must not use the Service in a manner that unreasonably interferes with other users’ access or enjoyment of the Service.

  9. Explicit Prohibition – Illegal Content

    You must not use the Services to access, download, store, transmit or distribute material that is unlawful including material involving exploitation, abuse or other criminal conduct. We may restrict or report access to such material where required or authorised by law.

  10. Content and third parties
    • Information made available through the Service (including any landing or “captive portal” page) is provided for general information only and may change without notice.
    • We do not endorse or approve third party content, websites or services accessible via the Service.
    • Any dealings with third parties are solely between you and that third party.

    All content made available by us remains our property or the property of our licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You must not use such content except as permitted by law.

    Information may be disclosed to relevant Northern Territory Government agencies, contracted service providers and law enforcement where authorised or required by law. The collection, use and disclosure of personal information is governed by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), Information Act 2002 (NT) and TENT’s Privacy Policy (available on our Privacy page ).

    We retain personal information and technical data collected through the Services only for as long as reasonably necessary to:

    • provide and manage the Service;
    • maintain network security and integrity;
    • investigate incidents; and
    • comply with legal obligations.

    Retention periods may vary depending on the nature of the information and applicable legal requirements.

  15. Third Party Network Provider

    The Service may be provided or supported by third party contractors or network providers. Those providers may process information on our behalf for the purposes of operating, maintaining and securing the Service.

    We are not responsible for the independent acts or omissions of third-party providers except to the extent required by law.

  16. Safety Disclaimer

    The Service must not be relied upon for emergency communications. Coverage in remote areas may be limited or unavailable.

  17. Limitation of Liability

    Nothing in these Terms exclude, restricts or modifies any rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable laws that cannot be excluded.

    To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage (including indirect or consequential loss, loss of data or loss of profits) arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.

  18. Indemnity

    You agree to indemnify us against any loss, damage, cost or liability (including reasonable legal costs) arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Service.

  19. Use by Minors

    If you are under 18 years of age, you should only use the Service with the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian. You are responsible for complying with any age restrictions, terms of use or access conditions imposed by third party websites, applications or online services accessed through the Service (including social media platforms). We do not monitor or enforce age restrictions imposed by third party platforms.

  20. General
    • These Terms are governed by the laws of the Northern Territory, Australia.
    • You submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Northern Territory.
    • If any provision of these Terms is invalid or unenforceable, it will be read down or severed to the extent necessary without affecting the remaining provisions.

The Northern Territory Information Act (the Act) provides the community rights to access government information, including personal information, The Act also safeguards the privacy of personal information held by the relevant organisations and ensures that organisations collect and handle personal information responsibly.

In the Act, Personal Information is any information a public sector organisation holds from which a person’s identity is apparent or is reasonably able to be ascertained. Tourism and Events NT is committed to protecting your personal information. Storage of data & international transfer

Tourism and Events NT stores personal information securely both within and outside the Northern Territory.
